Snorkeling mask test: Atlantis
DuikeninBeeld tested a series of snorkeling masks. These are the results for the Atlantis mask.
First impressions and usage
The Atlantis looks good and appears to be trustworthy. The snorkel is easy to attach and detach again. The silicone is soft to the touch yet firm, and creates a good seal. There is a clear size difference between the S/M and the L, so there is a good size available for everyone.
The elastic straps are easy to tighten and stay in place.
Above water, the mask fogs briefly, but this appears to be due to the heat being emitted by the tester’s head. The mask doesn’t fog up underwater during normal snorkeling activity and the field of vision is good. To subject the mask to a tougher test, the tester swam at a rapid speed and covered a substantial distance. The snorkel can handle the higher demand for air, and only fogs slightly at the sides. These masks are not designed for active sports and swimming, but instead for relaxed snorkeling activity – this is a welcome feature.
