Snorkeling masks 2019 – Atlantis Triton

Full-face snorkel masks are available in all shapes and sizes. This is what the DuikeninBeeld testing team thought about the Atlantis Triton mask.

It would be hard to be clearer than this: this mask is designed for snorkeling on the surface, and the product instructions remove any doubt.

It takes some strength to attach the snorkel but once you do, it’s firmly attached. The question immediately rises whether or not we’ll ever be able to detach it – but we manage this without too much effort. One noticeable feature is that a rubber band is used to seal the snorkel rather than an O-ring; this might be the reason it takes more strength to attach it.
Another interesting feature is the double seal in the snorkel. Without taking the entire mask apart, it looks like there are two channels, one for the supply of fresh air and one for the expulsion of exhaled air.
Tightening the straps – which are high-quality – could be easier, but once they’ve been adjusted, the mask fits well.

The field of vision is good but the top of the mask (which appears as a bulge) is still visible which can be somewhat distracting. The pane only fogs up slightly.
The mask offers good wearing and breathing comfort and is definitely worthy of a satisfactory score.

The snorkel masks were tested by a team of divers, material experts and non-divers. What our testers felt was a good or bad mask may of course differ from your experience with the same product.

If you plan to buy a snorkel mask, try it on first and better yet, try it before you buy it.

Happy snorkeling!
